Participation in the accreditation of the Technical University of Varna

From October 5 to 9, 2026, prof. A. Sładkowski participated in the institutional accreditation of the Technical University of Varna (TUV) as a member of an expert group (EG) established by the Bulgarian National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (NEAA). The expert group included prof. Anna Stoynova from the Technical University of Sofia (EG Chair); prof. Mariana Petrova from St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo; prof. Angel Anchev from the Technical University of Gabrovo; prof. Asen Asenov from Angel Kanchev University of Ruse; assoc. prof. Dragomir Vasilev from Bishop Konstantin Preslavsky University of Shumen; and Yordan Arabadzhiev, an industry representative. Prof. Velizara Pencheva oversaw the procedure on behalf of the NEAA. During the expert group's work, meetings were held with the university leadership and members of the working group that had prepared the self-assessment report for institutional accreditation.

The EG’s agenda included meetings with the university leadership, students, and doctoral candidates, as well as with representatives of employers, professional organizations, the public, and other stakeholders; a review of the implementation of distance learning at the university; an analysis of the research activities of faculty, doctoral candidates, and students; an assessment of the material-technical, information, and financial resources supporting the university’s educational and research activities; and visits to the library, the technology college, research laboratories, the career center, and other facilities.

Following the implementation of these measures, the EG held a meeting, during which a number of observations were raised and recorded in the minutes. The overall impression of the university's operations was positive—a point that will be highlighted in the final report. The self-assessment report was approved.

In addition to his work at the EG, prof. A. Sładkowski met with TUV staff to discuss matters of mutual interest. In particular, discussions covered opportunities to expand mobility under the Erasmus+ program, the signing of a double-degree agreement, TUV’s participation in conferences organized in Poland, joint publication activities, and a number of other aspects.
